Applications of Coupling

Applications:-
1. Application of Jaw Coupling:-
The jaw coupling is designed to provide torque while
mitigating system vibration and accommodating misalignment. In this particular
example, a coupling is used to connect the motor shaft to the conveyor drive
rollers. The jaw coupling is suitable for this coupling because high
precision and zero clearance is not required. At the same time, the jaw
coupling has good misalignment characteristics and can offer a high torque.
2. Application of Flexible Coupling:-
Flexible couplings are used to transfer torque from one axis
to another if the two axes are slightly misaligned. In this example, the test
device is using a torque transducer as a torque sensor for torque measurement.
In this example, flexible couplings are used to connect the motor and torque
sensor to the work-piece. These two couplings should minimize alignment errors
because the torque sensor must be as flat as possible. In addition, the sensor
must be protected against overloads. The main characteristics of flexible
couplings are very low or zero play, excellent lateral and angular
misalignment, excellent torsional rigidity, which makes them very suitable for
this application.
3. Application of Disc Coupling:-
By definition, the disk coupling is a high-performance
(servo) motion control coupling designed to be a torque transmission element
(connecting two axes together) while the shaft misalignment is accommodated.
Flexible design with strong torque at high torque loads. In this example, the
coupling is used as part of the sliding table in the welding station. The coupling
connects the servomotor to the ball screw,
which moves the work-piece table to the required position. The disc coupling
used here is recommended for use with servomotors due to its low clearance,
high torsional stiffness and acceptable misalignment and torque capabilities.
4. Application of Oldham Coupling:-
In this era of innovation,new manufacturing technologies are
available in the large manufacturing industry. The coupling is the key element
of the machine. Oldham couplings were introduced to connect two non-coaxial
parallel shafts. The coupling is an element with a good mechanism. It offers
the same speed and the same direction of rotation. In addition, the largest
applications for Oldham couplings are robots and servos in addition to printers
and copiers.
The couplings are standard mechanical components that
require the correct choice according to the application requirements and user
preferences, installation and periodic inspections.
During operation, the user must observe external signals,
such as noise and abnormal vibrations, indicating an early failure of the
coupling. This will help you understand the cause of the failure, how to fix it
and how to fix it before installing the new coupling. During its useful life,
the coupling must also be checked for signs of wear and fatigue.
